Utah Rodeos by City

Utah Rodeos

Utah is a great travel destination whatever time of year you come. Enjoy snowy mountains and skiing in the winter. Or, enjoy spectacular national parks year-round, like Zion, Arches, and more.

If you’re traveling in the summer, there are plenty of rodeos to add to your trip, too.

Days of ‘47 Rodeo

Held in July in Salt Lake City, the Days of ‘47 Rodeo is part of the Days of ‘47 celebration. It celebrates when Mormon pioneers entered the Great Salt Valley for the first time.

At the rodeo, you can see bareback riding, steer wrestling, team roping, saddle bronc riding, tie-down roping, breakaway roping, barrel racing, and bull riding. Kids can even participate in mutton bustin’. The Days of ‘47 is a PRCA-sanctioned rodeo.

The Professional Rodeo Cowboys Association (PRCA) is one of the biggest associations of rodeo professionals and supports rodeo sports. The PRCA hosts finals each year in December.

At the Days of ‘47 Rodeo, you can also see the Young Guns Rodeo which is a youth rodeo for kids ages 6-18 years old. You can also see the Utah Team Penning Cup which is put on by the Days of ‘47 Rodeo and United States Team Penning Association (USTPA).

Beyond the rodeo, you can enjoy other experiences at Days of ‘47. You can see a Native American Encampment, Pioneer Camp, and a Charro Encampment. (Charros are skilled horsemen from Mexico.) You and your family can also enjoy pony rides, mechanical bull rides, live music, and a longhorn display.

Utah’s Own Rodeo

In September, you can enjoy Utah’s Own Rodeo at the state fair. The Utah’s Own Rodeo is a PRCA-sanctioned rodeo and is a qualifier for the PRCA finals in December. You’ll see bull riding, barrel racing, and bronco busting.

The Utah’s Own Rodeo is also held in Salt Lake City at the Days of ‘47 arena. In addition to the rodeo, you can enjoy the Utah State Fair.

Fiesta Days Rodeo

If you’re headed to central Utah in July, check out the Fiesta Days Rodeo. Held in Spanish Fork, you’ll see all the typical rodeo sports – bareback riding, steer wrestling, team roping, saddle bronc riding, tie-down roping, barrel racing, and bull riding.

Ogden Pioneer Days

The Ogden Pioneer Days Rodeo is a tradition dating to 1934. It celebrates the pioneers who settled in Ogden in Northern Utah. Today, it’s a PRCA-sanctioned rodeo.

In addition to seeing rodeo professionals perform, you can see junior barrel racers, junior pole benders, miniature bull riding, calf scrambles, and mutton bustin’. You can also see Miss Rodeo Utah Horsemanship and Utah’s Mounted Thunder.

Beyond these rodeo events, you can enjoy parades, a Sunday devotional, and an art show called “Traces of the West”.

Another part of the Ogden Pioneer Days tradition are the painted fiberglass horses that line Historic 25th Street leading to the rodeo arena.

Ogden Pioneer Days also organizes a Special Kids Rodeo where kids with disabilities compete in rodeo sports.
