Whether you’re exploring Minneapolis and St. Paul or exploring the natural landscapes and boating in one of Minnesota’s 10,000+ lakes, there’s a lot to enjoy in Minnesota.

If you’re headed to Minnesota in the summer, add a rodeo to your itinerary (and the famous Minnesota State Fair).

Minnesota Rodeo Associations

Minnesota is home to several rodeo associations that support rodeos and rodeo sports throughout the state. The Minnesota Rodeo Association (MRA) sanctions rodeos in Minnesota, Iowa, North Dakota, South Dakota, and Wisconsin. It also hosts finals each year. The Minnesota High School Rodeo Association (MHSRA) supports high schoolers as they develop skills in rodeo sports.

And, the Miss Rodeo Minnesota Association supports young women in agriculture.

Buffalo PRCA Championship Rodeo

With its roots in 1955, the Buffalo PRCA Championship Rodeo is Minnesota’s oldest rodeo. It’s a PRCA rodeo, so you’ll see barrel racing, steer wrestling, bull riding, bronc riding, and roping.

The Professional Rodeo Cowboys Association (PRCA) sanctions rodeos across the United States and hosts finals annually. 

In addition to rodeo performances, you can enjoy food trucks, shopping, and concerts. Kids can even participate in mutton bustin’.

World Championship Hamel Rodeo

In July, you can enjoy bareback riding, saddle bronc riding, tie-down roping, steer wrestling, team roping, and barrel racing at the World Championship Hamel Rodeo. It also hosts the Bull Ridin’ Bonanza.

Park Rapids PRCA ProRodeo and Xtreme Bulls

Also in July, you can see the Park Rapids PRCA ProRodeo and Xtreme Bulls. In addition to exceptional rodeo performances, you’ll enjoy live music and dances each night after the rodeo. Kids can also participate in mutton bustin’.

Minnesota Horse Expo PRCA Rodeo

In April, head to the Minnesota State Fairgrounds in St. Paul to see the Minnesota Horse Expo and two PRCA rodeo performances. At these performances, you’ll see saddle bronc riding, bareback riding, bull riding, tie-down roping, steer wrestling, team roping, and barrel racing.
