Virginia Rodeos

Stretching from Chesapeake Bay to the Appalachian Mountains, Virginia holds a lot of history. You can see famous Colonial landmarks, such as Monticello and the Jamestown Settlement.

In addition to Colonial and Revolutionary-era reenactments, you can also go see a rodeo.

Rodeo in the Valley

Rodeo in the Valley produces professional rodeos all summer long. You can go between May and September for an exciting show. 

Rodeo in the Valley includes five International Pro Rodeo events, sanctioned by the International Pro Rodeo Association (IPRA). You’ll see bull riding, team roping, bronc riding, tie-down calf roping, and bulldogging. Cowgirls also compete in the cowgirls barrel racing and breakaway roping events.

There are also ranch rodeos, ranch sorting, barrel races, and fun event days for kids. Rodeo in the Valley is a show for the whole family to enjoy.

Annual Culpeper Rodeo

On the Saturday of Labor Day weekend, you can see the Annual Culpeper Rodeo. This rodeo is a charity event for the Kelly Street Boxing Club, and has been running for three years. The proceeds from the rodeo will go towards helping at-risk boys in the community. It’s an exciting event that supports a great cause.

At the Culpeper Rodeo, you’ll see bull riding, barrel racing, and team roping. The show goes on rain or shine, and you won’t want to miss it. Be sure to get to the event early so you can enjoy the food trucks, country line dancing, mutton busting, mechanical bulls, live music and petting zoo.

Rockfish River Rodeo at Blue Toad Hard Cidery

The Rockfish River Rodeo is a one-of-a-kind event that combines classic western farm rodeo with a twist of hard cider. It’s held over Labor Day weekend in the heart of Nelson County.

On Saturday, the field day is open all day to the public. You won’t want to miss the pre-party with local bands, hard cider bars, craft beer bars, food vendors, artisan vendors, and rodeo festivities. There’s even a free rodeo show from 2-5pm.

The main show starts at 5:30pm. You can see professional cowboys compete in exciting rodeo events. There will be rafting bulls, barrel racing, mutton busting and bucking broncos in this high quality, three hour performance.

True Grit Rodeo Co

True Grit Rodeo Co produces a lot of Virginia Rodeos throughout the year. At their events, you’ll see professional cowboys compete for prizes and golden buckles. The main events include bull riding, barrel racing, crossfire, and mini bulls. 

True Grit Rodeo is sanctioned by the Southern Extreme Bull Riding Association (SEBRA), so you’re bound to enjoy a wild western ride. True Grit Rodeo events are also sanctioned by the International Miniature Bullriding Association (IMBA).

Some of True Grit Rodeo’s yearly events include Extreme Bull Bash competitions, fairs, and even the True Grit Bull Camp. Bull riders and bull fighters can train at the Bull Camp in May, and also participate in Weekly Bullriding Training throughout the year.

Isle of Wight Co. Fair

The Isle of Wight Co. Fair is one of True Grit Rodeo’s favorite events each year. It’s only 45 minutes away from the beach, and highlights country music concerts, great food, and midway along with the rodeo. Rodeo events will include bull riding, crossfire, barrel racing, and mini bulls.

Extreme Bull Bash Tour Finals & Big Run

In March, True Grit Rodeo holds their Extreme Bull Bash Tour Finals, as well as True Grit’s Big Run. The finals include bull riding and barrel racing events with big cash rewards for each event. The Big Run features SEBRA sanctioned barrel racing with cash added each round. The Big Run Champion must have the best average score after competing in all four rounds.

True Grit Rodeo’s Bulls, Barrels, Boobies

One of True Grit Rodeo’s yearly events is organized in October for Breast Cancer Awareness Month. In addition to enjoying the classic rodeo events, you can also support the fundraiser to promote breast cancer awareness.

Longbranch Rodeo Inc.

Longbranch Rodeo Inc. is a family-owned rodeo company. Longbranch Rodeos are all sanctioned by the Southern Extreme Bull Riding Association (SEBRA), as well as World Champion Mini Bull Riding (WCMB), and the International Mini Bullriding Association (IMBA).

Longbranch Rodeo hosts family-friendly events in Powhatan in May, July, and September. They also have a show in Blackstone in June and October. All of their events feature bull riding, miniature bull riding, cowgirl barrel racing, team roping, cowgirl breakaway roping, and mutton busting.

Bulls and Barrels Beach Rodeo

For one weekend in April, you can see the Bulls and Barrel Beach Rodeo. It’s an exciting, new rodeo that takes place on the beach at 3rd street. In 2023, it was named the “Best New Outdoor Event” by the Southern Extreme Bull Riding Association (SEBRA).

At the Bulls and Barrel Beach Rodeo, you’ll witness some of the country’s best bull riders and barrel racers compete on the sand. With a $12,000 prize, as well as the “Best of the beach” buckle, there’s bound to be lots of pulse-pounding action. The main events include bull riding, barrel racing, and mini bull riding. There are also entertaining rodeo clown acts and kids’ mutton busting.

Mulberry Farm IBRA Barrel Racing

Mulberry Farm IBRA Barrel Racing is held from June through October. This exciting event is sanctioned by the International Barrel Racing Association (IBRA). Points are awarded based on the IBRA point system.

Mulberry Farm IBRA Barrel Racing includes several divisions which people can compete in. There are events for pee wee, open 4d, youth 3d, adult 3d, and masters 3d. The rodeo is held at the Mulberry Farm in Nokesville.

Chesterfield County Fair and Rodeo

At the Chesterfield fairgrounds, you can enjoy top-notch family entertainment. The Chesterfield County Fair and Rodeo is held over labor day weekend. 

For two days, there will be rides, shows, food, games, competitions, and entertainment. In addition to the rodeo, there are pageants, a silent auction, a comedy hypnotist, a magic show, and trapeze artists. People can enter into contests for dog shows, horse shows, swine races, and arts and crafts competitions. There’s something for everyone at the Chesterfield County Fair.

The Rodeo features bareback riding, saddle bronc riding, steer wrestling, team roping, breakaway, tie down roping, barrel racing, and bull riding. This exciting rodeo creates unforgettable memories.

BLM Bull and Rodeo at Oakland Heights

The BLM Bull and Rodeo at Oakland Heights is held from May through September in Gordonsville. There’s professional bull riding and barrel racing held on the second Saturday of each month. BLM Bull and Rodeo is sanctioned by the Southern Extreme Bull Riding Association (SEBRA). SEBRA voted BLM Bull and Rodeo Company the producer of the year in 2009. The rodeo helps benefit the Gordonsville Fire Department.

BLM Bull and Rodeo travels around central Virginia, producing multiple rodeos throughout the year. At their events, you can see professional bull riders go head to head with bucking bulls for an 8 second ride. There’s also mini bucking bulls, and ladies barrel racing. These exciting rodeo events are family friendly, with music, vendors, food concessions, and lots of extra entertainment.
